MedEDirect is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop innovative continuing education resources to assist physicians and other health professionals to continuously improve the effectiveness and safety over their lifetime of practice toward the goal of high quality care of patients. Medical education programs are developed with the support of unrestricted educational grants from organizations such as pharmaceutical manufacturers, managed care organizations, and government agencies.
MedEDirect offers continuing education activities for physicians and other healthcare professionals. These activities are developed and implemented with accredited providers in accordance with the Essentials, Standards, and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and other guidelines.
MedEDirect endorses and adopts the Essentials, Standards and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE) as a sponsor of continuing health education (CHE).

It is the purpose of MedEDirect to provide independent and unbiased evidence-based educational activities and resources to assist physicians and other health professionals to continuously improve effectiveness and safety over their lifetime of practice toward the goal of high quality care of patients.
The anticipated results achieved by the educational efforts of MedEDirect expressed as desired outcomes of learners’ practice performance include: improved patient safety; improved and appropriate use of current and emerging diagnostic and therapeutic technologies; increased knowledge of the rapidly expanding biomedical sciences underlying therapeutic interventions; increased skill in pertinent history taking, patient education, and communications; sharpened cultural sensitivities; improved access to and critical review of significant and relevant clinical practice literature; an increased understanding of socioeconomic factors driving change in systems of healthcare; and enhanced appreciation of the essential interdisciplinary character of practice.
